Donna and Paul would like to welcome you to Château de Saugé.

Situated in the beautiful rural countryside of the Deux Sevres region.

Château de Saugé was built in 1607 and stands in over 4 acres of beautiful rural gardens with large pond.  Due to its elevated position it presides over the surrounding fields and local towns.

The castle itself is flanked by picturesque outbuildings with a beautiful inner courtyard.

Our restoration began as soon as we moved in on the 31 October 2018 and has continued 24/7 since, we have now completed the Daughter’s Wing with a self-contained one bedroomed apartment and a serene 2 bedroomed luxury Woodland Suite with a double and two single French ancient beds and boasts a decadent en-suite bathroom with double slipper bath.

Our restoration continues with a Victoria Suite a beautiful double aspect room with lavish fittings in golds and reds, opulence at its best.  The Napoleon Suite will follow as well as The Stable Gite.  Two further suites The Royale and The Highlander will follow later this year.

We opened a Vintage Tearoom in November 2019 serving the most wonderful Traditional Afternoon Teas every Friday, Saturday Sunday and Monday from 10am – 5pm this will be extended during the summer months to take advantage of the wonderful sunshine and views from our Terrace.  Seating within the Tearoom up to 40 (including the Breakfast Room) and a further 30 on the Terrace.

Plans are proceeding also with our Barn refurbishment which will become a further Event Venue for weddings, birthdays etc.

We have created a traditional but comfortable lounge for all Chambres D’Hôtes guests and as an Event area it includes a large TV, and WiFi is available throughout the property.

A very warm welcome from Donna & Paul, the vintage tea room was perfect, for afternoon tea we had delicious sandwiches, savouries, cakes & scones washed down with tea or coffee with ambient background music. Would definitely recommend visiting (but check they have space via their website first). We will definitely be going back 😀

A lovely cosy vintage tearoom, with a warm welcome from Donna. Scrumptious afternoon tea with a great selection of quiche, sandwiches, scones with clotted cream ! and 4 delicious home made cakes. A real treat and a lovely way to pass a couple of hours on a grey Winter's afternoon. I highly recommend a visit.

Stopped here for breakfast. Beautiful old building. Great service and free refills of hot water for the tea pot. Full English breakfast of sausage, bacon, eggs, mushrooms, beans, tomatoes and toast was lovely and hit the spot. Paul and Donna were really friendly and place is a credit to them. Would love to return in the summer for afternoon tea.

Had afternoon tea for my birthday today and it was perfect. I even got a sparkler in my scone. Beautiful cheese scones, savoury tarts, scones with jam and clotted cream and the cakes were to die for. Couldn’t eat it all so Donna wrapped it up to take away
