Château de Saugé - 17th Century Castle in Saivres, Poitou Charente, France is being restored to its former glory – follow our journey.
Château de Saugé will operate as an Event Venue with Chambre D’hôtes and Gite accommodation. We also offer a Vintage Tearoom and Le Cave Bar/Restaurant.
We are working hard to upgrade all accommodation and common/public areas within the Chateau with Event space and Accommodation available from April 2019.
Château de Saugé was originally built in 1607 by the Rion family. The estate of Saugé was auctioned by the Nation in May 1795 and was subsequently bought by Pierre Guillonneau du Boupère, a descendant, Louis Alfred Viala-Carain, sold it to the Guyonnet family. The Chateau was purchased by Paul & Donna Newman in October 2018.
We have a number of rooms and suites available including – The Royal Suite with a separate lounge area – The Woodland Family Suite with 2-adjoining bedrooms and private bathroom – The Highlander and Victoria Suites – Double rooms – and Gite accommodation – 1 bed Hunting Lodge (Sleeps 4) – 2 bed Wood Lodge (Sleeps 6) and a further 4 Gites within the Chateau Courtyard.
Breakfast is served in the Chateau.
We can also offer dedicated Accommodation during Events.
Château de Saugé is the ideal location for all celebrations - Weddings, Birthdays, Corporate events, Graduations or getaways.
The Château and its grounds can also be hired privately for your event.
Complimentary services such as wedding planning, event planning, catering, team building are available - a quotation can be provided on request.
We have a number of areas which can be used for breakout space and/or meetings according to your requirements.
Our Saugé Vintage Tearoom offers Tea & Coffee, cakes and sandwiches in a traditional setting – our Tearoom Terrace overlooking the beautiful garden and lake is also available on sunny days – a perfect place to relax and catch up with friends and family.
Le Cave is a function area with dedicated bar/restaurant providing table d'hôte options to suit all tastes and budgets.
At the Chateau we do our best to produce our own vegetables, fruits, eggs, meats and cheese where possible as well as homemade cakes, biscuits etc to serve in our dining areas and also available for sale.
